Allyson Felix

Allyson Melissa Felix was born in Los Angeles, California on the 18th of November, 1985. Her father Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley and the mother of her child Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix displayed a knack for athletics early on discovering her athletic abilities while she was at the Los Angeles Baptist High School. She finished second in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships in only 10 weeks following her first attempt. In 2003, Felix graduated from high school having signed a professional contract with the athletics company Adidas and then enrolled in the University of Southern California where she completed her elementary education. The first Olympic medal came at the 2004 Summer Olympics which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set a world junior record for sprinting 200 meters in 22.18 secs. In 2005, she became the youngest world champion of 200 meters in the Helsinki World Championships. She was able to defend her title in 2007, defeating her long-time Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix took part at Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo and consistently placed within the top three athletes at her particular events.
